BigLinux: a Brazilian desktop on Manjaro’s repositories
BigLinux is a Brazilian project, in Portuguese on its site, built on its own repositories and Manjaro’s. It highlights a live session, updates without reinstalling, and the AUR. No telemetry page was read.
Before you get started
What to expect
BigLinux fits if you want an already equipped desktop and the Manjaro base. The site is a shopfront. It does not document what the system sends.
Who it is for
BigLinux fits if you want a Linux presented as simple, live first, and if the project’s community, mostly in Portuguese, suits you. It fits poorly if you want full English documentation, or Debian stable.
What you gain
The site describes a live USB, in-place updates rather than a reinstall every week, and access to the BigLinux and Manjaro repositories, the AUR, Flatpak and Snap. Waydroid is advertised for Android apps. Support for machines as old as 2007, according to the site, is their claim.
What you take on
You follow the stated pace, a new image version every week, and the Manjaro repositories. The AUR is offered as easy. On 12 June 2026, Arch warned of malicious packages in that repository. Easy is not reviewed.
Privacy
The pages read do not describe a BigLinux telemetry program. Neither does the site, in the text we kept. Do not turn that into silence. Manjaro, the repository base, also did not document collection by the installed system on the pages we read.
The decision
Choose BigLinux if the ready desktop and the project’s language are enough, and treat the AUR as elsewhere: a package to read before you install it. Otherwise Manjaro or Debian have clearer pages on what they are.
